Last January, I went to see Dr. Shah for another follow-up appointment. My visits with Dr. Shah are always fantastic—everyone is always warm and accommodating and you can see that Dr. Shah really cares about each of his patients!—but what made this particular appointment so special? Well, if you haven’t noticed already, it officially marks the first year since my rhinoplasty procedure!
Looking back, I can hardly believe that it has been a full year since my journey began. A full year since I had almost lost all hope that I can have the nose that I’ve always wanted due to a horrible initial rhinoplasty. A full year since I came across Dr. Shah and got my second chance. J
I am happy to report that my nose is healing according to plan. I know that one year may seem like a long time, especially when you’re waiting to see the final results of the surgery. Thankfully, I have done so much research prior to the operation that I’ve learned what to expect (and what not to expect) as time goes by. I knew that the healing process would be slow, and that it would take time before I finally see results that I wanted, so I really made an effort not to obsess about my nose. Otherwise, I would’ve wasted a lot of time and energy! Bear in mind that even after 3 months after the operation, my nose was still swollen. If I haven’t done my research, I would have been frustrated, but I knew that this swelling was perfectly normal at that point in time.
But now that a full year has gone by, I decided to allow myself to judge my progress and compare where I was 12 months ago to where I am now. And all I can say is: I AM AMAZED AT THE RESULTS! I’m including my LinkedIn profile picture 12 months ago to my most recent one so you can see the change for yourself.
Gone are the days when I was afraid of having my picture taken because I was so unhappy with the appearance of my nose. Now I can literally face the camera with full confidence.
Anyway, back to my appointment with Dr. Shah. Another good news is that I found this awesome parking off of Walton Street, which means I don’t have to deal with high garage parking rates anymore. As per usual, Dr. Shah’s friendly assistant Mia took my photos before I went in to see the doctor. When I finally sat down with Dr. Shah, we talked about how much more refined my nose is. However, there is still a bit of swelling (only visible to an expert like Dr. Shah). He also said that this is quite typical at this stage and that I can expect my nose to look even better at year 2.
Even though I am very close to my final results, Dr. Shah still wants to see me for follow-ups to make sure my progress is on track.
So that’s pretty much it for this appointment. Stay tuned for an update on my June appointment!
