My journey to finding the right revision rhinoplasty surgeon, Dr. Anil Shah, took a total of long seven years. Like many, I did a great deal of research, which included reading plenty of online reviews about rhinoplasty and rhinoplasty surgeons in Chicago, before selecting a surgeon. Unfortunately, at the time of my 1st surgery, Dr. Shah’s practice was still in New York, and I didn’t even know he existed. I ended up choosing a local Chicago doctor, who was supposedly a “Leading Rhinoplasty Specialist”. As you read my posts, you will learn about the red flags I ignored, why my 1st surgery was unsuccessful, and hopefully, you will learn from my mistakes. While my journey to rhinoplasty finally had a happy ending, it definitely did not start of that way.
Although my journey to finding the right rhinoplasty surgeon took 7 years, my actual journey to rhinoplasty began when I was a teenager. For over 20 years, I have been unhappy with the large size and beak-like shape of my nose. However, I finally made the decision to take the leap and do what I’ve always dreamed of for most of my life—undergo rhinoplasty and gain the nose I’ve always wanted. Once I made this decision, I was determined to do it right and see it through. I spent countless hours online learning everything I can about rhinoplasty procedures and how to select the best rhinoplasty surgeon. I visited numerous rhinoplasty blogs and forums to communicate with other rhinoplasty patients and learn about their experiences. Unfortunately, despite all of my hard work and careful research, my first rhinoplasty still resulted to a botched operation. I began to feel like I was condemned to have the nose I’ve always hated for the rest of my life. Little did I know that I was yet to meet the rhinoplasty surgeon who would change my life.
In my journey posts, you will read about the ironic circumstances amidst which I met the amazing Dr. Anil Shah. I mean, who would have thought that while I was emotionally and psychologically suffering from the results of a horrible rhinoplasty operation, one of the best revision rhinoplasty surgeons in the country was merely “under my nose” so to speak? 🙂 Indeed, about a year after my disastrous primary rhinoplasty, I began seeing Dr. Shah for jaw botox injections. That was in 2009. But it wasn’t until 2013 that I seriously began to consider the idea of undergoing revision rhinoplasty with Dr. Shah. Perhaps the biggest factor that affected my decision was the conversations I had with his other patients. In my posts, I shared how I came across these patients in Dr. Shah’s waiting room and around his office. These meetings were completely by chance and spontaneous. I believe the unrehearsed scenario in which I met these fabulous women (and a few men) allowed us to share real stories with each other. So if you’re planning to base your choice of rhinoplasty surgeon solely on patient reviews and recommendations online, then you might want to read what I wrote about these so-called online reviews first.
Finally, I also share my beautiful journey to a successful revision rhinoplasty with Dr. Shah. I do hope you enjoy my story and more importantly, I hope it helps you find a rhinoplasty happy ending of your own!
