Hello, my name is Amy and I was born and raised in the windy city of Chicago. Like most women, I have things that I would like to change about myself. While there are days I like what I see in the mirror, and other days not so much, one thing never seems to change. Every time I look into the mirror, I am dismayed at the site of my big nose–or as refer to it as, “My Beak”. While I try not to let it stand in the way from making the most out of my life, deep down, I know it has affected me. The reality is I’ve spent the majority of my life avoiding cameras, and I am terrified of the very thought of being in pictures. Finally at the age of 36, and 7 long years after my failed primary rhinoplasty, I finally decided to make a positive change in my life and have a revision rhinoplasty surgery.
I have written this blog to share my rhinoplasty experience, and just as important, my journey to finding the right doctor, my rhinoplasty surgeon, Dr. Anil Shah. When it comes to choosing your rhinoplasty surgeon, I am going to be very blunt and candid with my advice and past experiences. It is my sincerest hope that I can prevent others from making the same mistake that I did upon selecting my rhinoplasty surgeon. And for those of you that have already suffered from a failed rhinoplasty, like me, I want to remind you that you are not alone. Just remember everything happens for a reason, and that by doing research and making good decisions you can end up where you want to be. Finally, I would like to dedicate this blog to both my boyfriend, George, who has been incredibly supportive and understanding throughout this whole process, and to my amazing rhinoplasty revision surgeon, Dr. Anil Shah, who seems to be both one part Michelangelo and one part board certified MD.
